HOW TO AVOID CONTACTING APOLLO(EPIDEMIC VIRAL CONJUNCTIVITIS)

                                             

Apollo is an eye disease or uncomfortable eye condition that can be caused by infectious or irritant. Apollo is a name given to "red eye" the causes which are many but majorly of infectious origin. When the eye becomes inflamed due to this it is called Epidemic
Viral Conjunctivitis. it is a viral infection which is prevalent during the dry harmattan season.




usually, viral infections are self limiting, meaning they run their natural course and stop. However,no cure has been detected but we can manage the symptoms to give the patient a relief while the course lasts.
  Early period of Apollo you will not experience  eye discharge but only redness and pain which can be relief through topical steroid(Eye drop)  containing 1% hydro cortisone or chloramphenicol  eye drop.
  Later preriod: At this stage eyes will start producing discharge once there is discharge then know that there is secondary bacterial infection,  so, you can now use a combination of topical antibiotics and steroid.

HOW TO AVOID CONTACTING APOLLO FROM AN INFECTED PERSON

Most people have wrong impression  that apollo can be contacted through having eye contact with an infected person which is not true. To avoid  being contacted one should avoid hand contact with eyes after shaking hands with an infected person make sure you wash your hands properly and also if you touch what he has touched make sure you properly washed your hand. The reason  is throughout the period of the infection the carrier or the infected person will not stop touching eyes with hand.
